A Rising Star from Kingston, Jamaica is Making Noise on the Music Scene (An excerpt from BB Magazine)
BBM: How would you describe the model industry in your hometown Kingston, Jamaica?
Joelee: Jamaica is a small country, Kingston is even smaller, and it's very competitive. There are two major agencies there, and many model hopefuls. The ability is there for international stardom, but it’s rare. Every model’s dream is to get that overseas’ contract, which sometimes never comes. I missed my chance of getting
signed overseas, but God had a bigger plan for my life so I have no regrets.
BBM: How did your love for music begin?
Joelee: Music is life, well at least my life. I was born loving music, it was never an overnight development. I remember I used to keep song books of all my favorite songs, then at 17 years old I started writing my own songs. I was always singing, at school, at church (praise and worship was my favorite part of going to church). I used to just listen to music to get me through the day. Music was my escape, my safe haven. I get so excited when I speak of this because it brings back so many memories of how I became grounded musically.
