Myanmar is the second most closed off country in the world, in 2012 alone only 1% of the population had internet, there are more smartphones than electricity, material possessions are small, and in general life in Myanmar is incredibly basic. I've struggled with the though of what it will mean for this country to open up to the outside world more and more. Because on one hand, everyone deserves freedom and the same opportunities as the rest of the world. But on the other hand, I see how happy and content people are with a basic life, especially in a time where there is a huge push for minimalism, downsizing, and living more simple in many western countries--it really makes you wonder, what is truly best...? What do you guys think? (Hoping to great some dialogue because I'm seriously lost on where to stand).
