The Annual Health Checks kicked off to a good start, bright and early on the morning of the 26th of June.
A total of 4 cheetahs were darted, immobilized and checked before lunch.
These included Mulder, Abbey, Bubbles and Raisin. Of them Abbey had a few problems with her teeth and ended up having 2 teeth extracted. Apart from this all the cheetah were found to be in good health, and have all recovered well.
This brought us up to lunch time and after a short break we all gathered to listen to a lecture given by Dr Adrian Tordiffe on Induced Hyperthermia in captive cheetahs.
After lunch, Mick, one of our leopards was also darted, immobilized and checked, he was found to be in great health apart from a bit of damage to a tooth which resulted in a root canal. We are happy to report that he has recovered well.
This brought us to the end of a successful first day!!
